Two individuals, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gul Muhammad Khan and his gunman, were killed in an attack by militants while patrolling in Lakki Marwat on Friday. Local media reports indicate that unidentified assailants opened fire on their police van, resulting in the serious injury of the two officers.

Following the attack, DSP Gul Muhammad Khan and his gunman were rushed to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Norang, where they succumbed to their injuries. Subsequently, a heavy police and military presence arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.

Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) initiated a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the attack. This incident marks another assault on law enforcement in the region, as both KP and Balochistan continue to confront militant activities perpetrated by groups such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Islamic State (IS), and other splinter factions.
