Aviation Incidents in Pakistan: Fire on Landing at Peshawar, Medical Emergency in Karachi

Two separate aviation incidents occurred in Pakistan on Thursday, July 11th, 2024.

  • Saudi Airlines Fire Landing in Peshawar: A Saudi Airlines plane arriving from Riyadh with 276 passengers and 21 crew members experienced a fire in its right landing gear upon touchdown at Bacha Khan International Airport. Air traffic control immediately notified the pilot, and fire and rescue services swiftly extinguished the flames. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated.

  • Emergency Landing in Karachi for Medical Reason: Earlier on Thursday, a Colombo-bound flight departing Dubai had to make an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. A Sri Lankan woman passenger suffered a heart attack mid-air, and her condition deteriorated rapidly. The pilot requested and received permission for an emergency landing. Sadly, upon arrival in Karachi, medical personnel confirmed the passenger’s passing. After completing necessary procedures, the flight continued to Colombo.
