The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched a crackdown on individuals flaunting their wealth on social media platforms. Sources confirm that data on nearly 100,000 affluent Pakistanis has been collected, with special focus on non-filers who spend extravagantly on weddings and luxury lifestyles.
The FBR is monitoring individuals who showcase expensive assets online, including lavish mansions, luxury cars, jewelry, and branded clothing. Reports indicate that even those wearing suits worth up to $20,000 at weddings will be scrutinized, with authorities demanding proof of income sources.

To ensure transparency, the tax authority will compare last year’s filed returns with this year’s submissions. Any inconsistency between declared income and evident spending patterns will trigger action, as the FBR aims to bring hidden wealth into the tax net.
This move reflects the government’s intent to curb tax evasion and ensure accountability among high spenders who display their wealth publicly but fail to declare it to the authorities.
