The Federal Higher Education Commission has recently sanctioned a salary hike for university vice-chancellors, following deliberations during its 43rd meeting chaired by HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed.

The meeting concluded that current vice-chancellors’ salaries nationwide were insufficient and required standardization. Under the new directive, their salaries will now align with those of tenure-track professors, totaling Rs. 1 million inclusive of all allowances. Additionally, the meeting endorsed the Transnational Policy 2024, which mandates that 35 Pakistani universities and colleges affiliated with foreign institutions must procure a new No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to facilitate admissions.
