The Federal Ministry of Education has announced an extension of the summer vacation for schools and colleges in Islamabad until August 4, 2024, due to the ongoing hot weather conditions.

“Due to the intense hot and humid weather in the Federal Capital, it has been decided to extend summer vacation in ICT schools/colleges till August 4, 2024,” stated a notification from the ministry. As a result, schools and colleges will now reopen on August 5. Previously, the Sindh Education Department had also extended the summer break in the province until August 14 due to similar weather conditions.

In addition, the Meteorological Office has forecasted more rain, wind, and thundershowers from July 28 to 31, with intermittent breaks across various parts of the country. The PMD noted in a statement on Friday that strong monsoon currents are expected to enter the upper regions from the night of July 27, spreading to central and southern areas by July 29.
