At least 78 people were killed and 329 others injured in a wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran’s capital, Tehran, early Friday, according to local media reports. Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency described the attacks as a “terrorist operation” by the Zionist regime, with the death toll expected to rise.

The large-scale assault involved approximately 200 Israeli aircraft, which focused on destroying Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and long-range missile systems. Among the dead were several high-ranking military officials and nuclear scientists. In response, Tehran has vowed “severe punishment” and called for an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council to hold Israel accountable.

Meanwhile, in the northwestern city of Tabriz, at least 18 people were confirmed dead and 12 others injured after Israeli strikes hit areas near the city’s airport. Explosions were also reported across East Azerbaijan province, according to state TV and ISNA.

This latest escalation comes amid a rapidly intensifying conflict between Iran and Israel, with both nations trading threats and military actions. The situation remains volatile, with fears of a broader regional confrontation continuing to grow.
