Milk retailers in Karachi have reported a substantial 40% decrease in milk production, attributing it to the recent severe heatwave, which has caused significant livestock deaths. This decline has created a challenging situation for the milk supply chain. According to 24NewsHD TV channel, Waheed Gaddi, the spokesperson for the milk retailers, has called on government authorities to take immediate action to ensure a stable supply of milk.

Gaddi highlighted that the reduction in milk production has forced retailers to purchase milk at significantly higher prices from the open market, further straining their operations and impacting consumers. In response to the crisis, retailers have formally notified the Karachi Commissioner and the Chief Minister about the severity of the situation through an official letter.

This letter underscores the critical impact of the heatwave on livestock and the consequent disruption to the milk supply, urging authorities to implement measures to stabilize the market and support the affected retailers.
