The Lahore district administration has finalized and announced the official locations where Basant festivities will be allowed as the city prepares to revive the historic kite-flying festival next year. With Basant making its return after a long hiatus, authorities have designated specific parks and open areas across Lahore where celebrations and kite flying will be permitted to ensure the event remains safe and orderly.
Among the selected spots for Basant activities are several popular public parks, including Greater Iqbal Park, Jallo Park, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, Jailani Park, and Model Town Park. These sites have been chosen to provide sufficient space for families and kite enthusiasts to participate in the colorful festivities while minimizing risks associated with kite flying.

City officials also indicated plans to regulate activity within these zones by enforcing safety measures and restricting dangerous kite strings and materials. During the festival dates in early February, public safety teams and event staff will be on duty at the approved locations to monitor compliance with rules and assist visitors as needed.
The move is part of a broader government effort to bring Basant back to Lahore’s cultural calendar in a controlled way, balancing tradition with modern safety considerations so that residents and tourists alike can enjoy the vibrant springtime event.
