Former Pakistan fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz has sharply criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for appointing Waqar Younis to any role within the organization.

In a candid interview with local media, Nawaz described the decision as one of the worst recent choices, citing Younis’s previous failures as captain, bowling coach, and head coach of the national team. Nawaz also expressed concerns about Younis’s alleged involvement in a past scandal, suggesting that this should disqualify him from any cricket administration position.

Nawaz did not spare PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi from his criticism, questioning the rationale behind the appointment.

He stressed that his comments were not driven by personal ambition for a PCB role, but rather by a genuine concern for the future of Pakistan cricket.

Nawaz argued that having an excessive number of coaches could impede player development, emphasizing that players should focus on their own hard work and dedication. He praised Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem for his determination and resilience, noting that his success came from natural talent and personal effort, rather than reliance on coaching or government support.

Nawaz’s remarks reflect broader concerns about the direction of Pakistan cricket and the impact of coaching on athlete development.
