The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is gearing up for a leadership transition with the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, set to take on the presidency of the regional cricket governing body. Naqvi’s term as ACC President will begin in January 2025 and span two years.

Naqvi’s upcoming presidency marks a significant moment for Pakistan’s influence in regional cricket administration. The ACC leadership rotates among member countries, ensuring diverse representation and continuity in governance. The current ACC President, Jay Shah, who is also the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), was granted a one-year extension earlier this year, facilitating a smooth transition for Naqvi.

In addition to his role with the PCB, Mohsin Naqvi serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister. His tenure as PCB Chairman has often been seen as “political,” drawing scrutiny from the public and former cricketers. As he takes on the ACC presidency, Naqvi will balance responsibilities across these key areas, underscoring his extensive experience and leadership skills.

An official announcement about Naqvi’s presidency is expected during the next ACC meeting, scheduled for October-November. This leadership change comes at a crucial time for regional cricket administration, with significant tournaments and initiatives shaping the future of the sport in Asia. As the new ACC President, Naqvi will oversee crucial developments and strategic decisions that will influence the cricketing landscape in Asia.
