On Saturday, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced a surge in electricity tariffs by Rs 4.56 per unit, presenting an added challenge for power consumers.

In an official notification, NEPRA notified consumers of the tariff hike, attributing it to fuel adjustment charges for December 2023. The notification outlined that electricity consumers would face supplementary charges this month, with the exception of Lifeline consumers who are exempt from the increase.
