Visa Restrictions Explained in National Assembly Report
The Foreign Ministry informed the National Assembly (NA) on Wednesday that there is no official visa ban on Pakistani citizens by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as reported by 24NewsHD TV channel.
However, in a report submitted to the NA, the ministry clarified that the Gulf state has imposed certain restrictions on visa issuance for Pakistanis due to various reasons.
Reasons for UAE Visa Restrictions
The report outlined several factors contributing to the UAE’s scrutiny of Pakistani visa applicants, including:
- Involvement in illegal activities, such as possessing fake degrees, diplomas, and job contracts
- Engagement in political and criminal activities
- Sharing objectionable content on social media
- Overstaying visas, leading to increased scrutiny from UAE authorities
Additionally, the ministry mentioned that the UAE government has introduced long-term visas, including five-year visa options.
Diplomatic Efforts to Resolve the Issue
To address these concerns, Pakistan’s embassy in Abu Dhabi has been in active discussions with UAE officials at the ministerial and under-secretary levels.
Furthermore, senior officials from the Foreign Ministry’s Middle East Division have also engaged in talks with the UAE embassy in Islamabad.

The report emphasized that Pakistani officials remain in constant contact with UAE authorities to facilitate smoother visa processing for Pakistani applicants.
