Pakistan’s military has claimed to have shot down 12 Indian drones over recent weeks, according to a statement by DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif on Thursday. He stated that all the drones were Israeli-made Heron UAVs and had violated Pakistani airspace across multiple regions, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Attock, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Miano, Chhor, and near Karachi.
Lt Gen Sharif reported that four Pakistan Army personnel were injured in the incidents. He condemned the repeated violations as a serious breach of international norms and an attack on Pakistan’s sovereignty, asserting that the military remains on full alert and prepared to defend the country’s skies.

While no specific details were disclosed about the interception tactics or timing, Pakistan warned that such provocations would not go unanswered. India has yet to issue an official response. The Heron drones are used extensively by the Indian military for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions and are developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
The incident adds to growing concerns amid already heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations, as cross-border surveillance and military posturing intensify.
