The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that a final decision regarding Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup 2026 has not yet been made. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the matter is under consultation with the federal government and a clear verdict will be announced soon.
According to the PCB chairman, discussions have already taken place with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who advised the board to carefully evaluate all aspects before making a commitment. The tournament is scheduled to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, which has added complexity to the decision-making process.

The PCB has also raised concerns over recent actions taken by the International Cricket Council (ICC), particularly regarding team participation policies and travel-related issues. These concerns are being reviewed internally before Pakistan confirms its stance.
Although Pakistan’s squad for the tournament has been announced, PCB officials clarified that squad selection does not automatically confirm participation. The board emphasized that national interest, player safety, and fairness in international cricket remain top priorities.
A final announcement from the PCB is expected within days after completing consultations with government authorities.
