The latest Petrol Price Increase Pakistan announcement has added more pressure on citizens as the federal government once again raised petroleum prices across the country. The revised fuel prices came into effect from May 9, 2026, pushing both petrol and diesel rates above Rs. 414 per litre.
According to the latest notification, petrol prices in Pakistan have been increased by Rs. 14.92 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) has become costlier by Rs. 15 per litre. Following the revision, petrol will now be sold at Rs. 414.78 per litre, whereas diesel has reached Rs. 414.58 per litre.
The latest increase comes only a week after another sharp hike in petroleum prices, when the government raised diesel prices by Rs. 19.39 per litre and petrol by Rs. 6.51 per litre. The back-to-back increases have intensified concerns among consumers, transporters, and businesses over further inflation across the country.
Experts believe the continuous rise in global oil prices, regional geopolitical tensions, and pressure linked to Pakistan’s economic commitments are contributing to the increasing fuel costs. Rising petroleum prices are expected to directly impact transportation fares, food prices, logistics, and industrial operations in the coming weeks.

The increase in diesel prices is particularly significant for Pakistan’s agriculture and transport sectors, as high-speed diesel is widely used in trucks, buses, tractors, and heavy machinery. Analysts warn that higher diesel costs could trigger another wave of inflation, especially in food and commodity prices.
Meanwhile, public frustration continues to grow over repeated fuel price hikes. Social media platforms saw strong criticism of the government’s economic policies, with many citizens expressing concern over shrinking purchasing power and increasing household expenses.
Pakistan has witnessed several major fuel price revisions in recent months as authorities attempt to manage fiscal pressures and changing international oil market conditions. Despite occasional temporary relief measures, petroleum prices remain near historic highs.
