The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has declared plans to hold a large-scale protest at D-Chowk, Islamabad, on October 15. The announcement came after an emergency meeting of the PTI political committee, which was notably absent from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
Following the meeting, PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram issued a statement directing all organizational leaders and members at both the central and regional levels to begin preparations for the protest. The statement highlighted PTI’s decision to cancel scheduled protests in various districts of Punjab, with new dates to be announced later.
The committee voiced its strong disapproval of the current government, accusing them of being “mandate thieves” and disrespecting the Constitution and the law. The PTI leadership also raised concerns over the ongoing treatment of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, claiming that he is being subjected to new forms of brutality and that his health, safety, and fundamental human rights are being intentionally endangered.
