The Punjab government has launched a major welfare initiative aimed at providing free residential land to homeless and landless citizens across the province, as part of its broader housing support agenda.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that under the new scheme, eligible individuals who do not own any property will be allotted free plots to help them secure permanent housing. The initiative is designed to reduce homelessness and support low-income families struggling to afford land and construction costs.
According to official details, the scheme is being implemented under Punjab’s ongoing “Apni Zameen Apna Ghar” program, which focuses on providing 3-marla residential plots to deserving applicants through a transparent selection process. The program is being rolled out in phases across multiple districts of Punjab to ensure fair distribution and wider coverage.

The government has stated that applicants must meet strict eligibility criteria, including being a permanent resident of Punjab, having no existing property ownership, and passing financial and background checks. Selected beneficiaries will receive plots free of cost, with additional support mechanisms such as construction assistance and monitoring to ensure proper use of the land.
Officials say the initiative is part of the government’s broader vision of “housing for all,” which also includes complementary schemes offering housing loans and low-cost construction support for newly allotted landowners.
The announcement was made during a housing-related ceremony in Lahore, where the chief minister emphasized that providing shelter is a key priority for the provincial government, especially for workers and economically vulnerable communities.
The scheme is expected to benefit thousands of families once fully implemented, with phased rollout already underway in several districts.
