Today, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) maintained stability against the US Dollar, opening at 278 in the interbank market. The PKR held steady throughout the day and closed in positive territory against the dollar, finishing at 278.54, marking a 0.06 percent appreciation. The rupee gained 15 paisas against the greenback today and has seen a modest 0.02 percent appreciation on a fiscal year-to-date basis.

However, the PKR experienced declines against most major currencies. It lost 14 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) and 71 paisas against the British Pound (GBP). Conversely, it saw gains of four paisas against the UAE Dirham (AED) and the Saudi Riyal (SAR), 41 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD), and 87 paisas against the Euro (EUR).

Since January 2023, the rupee has depreciated by approximately Rs. 51.64. From April 2022, the PKR has fallen by Rs. 95.64 against the US Dollar. Despite today’s slight appreciation, the rupee remains down overall, reflecting ongoing volatility in the exchange rate.
