Sindh Commences Operation to Combat Beggar Mafia

The Sindh Police have embarked on a campaign to dismantle the networks of organized beggary in Karachi, following directives from the Inspector General of Sindh Police. This initiative aims to address the widespread issue of forced begging orchestrated by criminal groups. Over a span of two weeks, police forces will gather information on individuals linked to these beggar mafias. Upon completing this data collection, actions will be taken against those involved in these illegal activities.

Highlighting the severity of the situation, police recounted an incident from the previous year where a former police officer was rescued from Rawalpindi after being held captive and coerced into begging for seven years. The ex-officer, suffering from mental health issues, was subjected to physical harm, including a broken leg, to enforce his compliance by the kidnappers.
