Three Pakistani Workers Face Death Sentences in Iraq

An Iraqi court has sentenced three Pakistani nationals to death for their involvement in robbery and terrorism.

According to local media reports, the Rasafa Court issued death sentences to Umar Farooq, Haider Ali, and Shoaib Akhtar. The convictions were based on their participation in various criminal activities, including terror-related offenses.

Shoaib Akhtar was specifically found guilty of establishing a terrorist group in Iraq, shooting Shahab Kazim Hassan, and robbing his shop. Iraqi media also reported that one of the Pakistanis was linked to a shooting incident that led to the death of Officer Hayman Karim.

The sentences were handed down under Iraq’s anti-terrorism laws. The convicts plan to appeal the ruling in federal court. The verdict was announced on July 31.
