To increase wages for hourly workers in the U.S. by closing the wage gap with Amazon and Walmart.

It has been reported in the Wall Street Journal that Walmart (Walmart) is raising the wages of its hourly workers in the United States as part of an effort to attract front-line workers.

Earlier this month, Walmart announced in an internal notice to its employees that starting next month, American workers in Walmart stores and warehouses will receive a starting salary of at least $14 an hour (currently about 81 RMB), an increase from $12 an hour (currently about 81 RMB).

It’s been reported that these changes are the latest in a series of increases Walmart has been implementing in an attempt to close the wage gap with its competitors in recent years. Walmart’s spokesman told us that Walmart hourly workers are currently earning an average hourly wage of about $17 (currently about 115 RMB) per hour.
