Abu Dhabi has imposed a strict ban on crypto currency mining on agricultural land, introducing heavy fines of Dh100,000 for violators. Repeat offenders will face double penalties.

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) revealed that inspections uncovered multiple farms engaged in crypto mining. As part of enforcement, authorities will suspend all services and support for non-compliant farms.

This new penalty for 2025 marks a dramatic rise from the previous fine of Dh10,000 set in 2024, representing a 900% increase. The ban applies equally to farm owners and tenants, as crypto mining is deemed harmful to agricultural sustainability, food security, and biosecurity.

Farms found violating the rules will face electricity cuts, confiscation of mining equipment, suspension from support programs, and legal proceedings under existing laws.
