Thousands of users in Pakistan have been experiencing disruptions in WhatsApp services since Thursday night, with many reporting issues in sharing voice notes and media files such as pictures and videos. Instagram users have also faced similar problems.

The outages have caused significant inconvenience across the country, particularly in major cities like Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Karachi, where the majority of cases have been reported over the past 24 hours.

Numerous users have taken to social media and platforms like DownDetector to report that WhatsApp media files—such as videos, voice notes, and images—are not being processed or loaded as usual. Some users have resorted to using virtual private networks (VPNs) to send these types of files.

However, not all users have been affected. Some have reported that WhatsApp is functioning normally for them, with no issues encountered.

As of now, neither the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) nor most internet service providers (ISPs) have provided any clarification on why the issue persists for so many users across the country.
