In a statement on Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi announced that one million youth across the province would be given free online IT (Information Technology) courses and training for the purpose of becoming self-employed. The Chief Minister was present at the signing of the MoU ceremony as a chief guest. Syed Bilal Haider, Chairman of PITB, and Mr. Tan Ting Jin, Chief Executive Officer of reskills Malaysian Company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has reiterated his commitment to providing free online IT training to one million youth of the province to ensure their economic empowerment. On Wednesday, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Punjab Information Technology Board and Malaysian company Reskills in Lahore.
Speaking on occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Malaysian company would also provide a technical grant worth twelve million dollars to the Punjab government for the training of youth between the ages of 16 to 30.
According to him, one of the main benefits of the program is that youth can earn their livelihoods through online means after receiving training and above three billion rupees will be saved by the online training, he said. It is estimated that through online training, hundreds of thousands of self-employment opportunities will be generated in the coming years. Youths aged 16 to 30 years will be given free online training.
There will be a technical grant of $12 million provided by the Malaysian company to the Punjab government to be used to train free of charge the youths who will be part of the program. By reducing the training costs by at least Rs3 billion, it will be possible to save at least Rs2 billion. With the cooperation of the Malaysian company Re-Skills, the CM explained that youths would be provided with online training services for self-employment with the aid of the company. The youths will have free access to premium learning accounts for up to a year.
By completing online professional courses, he suggested that the youths could enhance their income as a result of a greater income. In addition to being able to receive training through the platform, youths with smartphones can also access it easily. The chief minister said the government would provide every facility to the local and international technology companies for the purpose.
According to Dr. Arslan Khalid, the CM’s Special Assistant on IT, the Punjab government was going to launch the Digital Skills-2 program, which would provide high-level technology training for university youths enrolled in the program. As per the data provided by Syed Bilal Haider, Chairman of PITB, Pakistan is ranked fourth in the world for freelancing.
In his report, he has advised the youth that PITB will be issuing special promotional codes which they will be able to apply on this website or mobile app and that they will also be able to activate their learning accounts for a period of one year. As part of his official duties on Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi inaugurated the construction of the new 256-bed emergency and trauma center of Jinnah Hospital by pressing a button. The seven-story emergency block and trauma center project would be completed within the stipulated period and all the medicines will be provided free of cost in the emergency, he added and appreciated that Dr. Yasmin Rashid and her team were burning the midnight oil to provide quality healthcare facilities to the patients.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of veteran actor and comedian Majid Jahangir and extended sympathies to the bereaved family.
The CM said that Majid Jahangir’s popular TV drama ‘Fifty Fifty’ is still remembered by the fans. Majid Jahangir commanded ‘Fifty Fifty’ with his unique acting and the history of comedy cannot be complete without Majid Jahangir, he added.
