The former Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ramiz Raja, has claimed that two of Peshawar Zalmi’s young guns, Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris, may very well soon gracing the opening positions for the national team in T20I cricket in the near future.

As much as he praised the abilities of the two players, he also remarked that one of them should have closed out last night’s match against Multan Sultans as well.

Ramiz on his YouTube channel pointed out that “Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris should be Pakistan’s future openers in T20I cricket due to their capability and potential.

In spite of this, they should have been able to finish the match after getting a good start and setting the pace. The fact that they were not able to finish the game was a waste of their talent and potential,” he added.

Zalmi had a great start with Haris giving them 40 runs off 23 balls, but ultimately, despite his impressive performance, they were unable to capitalize and eventually lost by 56 runs. Additionally, Saim’s career-best PSL score of 53 also gave a glimpse of his immense potential and the talent he possesses.

The player further stated that it was crucial to give opportunities to young players in the PSL, rather than sticking with older players who are close to retirement.

It is my firm belief that the Pakistan Super League is not suited for players who are close to the age of 40 and are close to retirement. I believe we are putting the careers of young cricketers and future stars at risk for the sake of friendship, and I don’t think that is fair,” he said.
