The iPhone 16 series is not slated for release until at least September-October this year, but early renders based on the iPhone 16 Pro prototypes have already surfaced, courtesy of MacRumors. Internally, the iPhone 16 Pro is codenamed “Diablo,” while the Pro Max is known as “Lightning” at the moment.
These preliminary glimpses suggest that Apple may adhere to a familiar design formula, closely resembling their predecessors, with the main changes being larger screens and adding a dedicated Capture button on the side.
The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro is poised to feature a 6.27-inch screen diagonal. Initial dimensions indicate a size of 149.6 x 71.45 x 8.25mm and a weight of around 194 grams. Meanwhile, the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max boasts a 6.85-inch screen, with expected dimensions of 163 x 77.58 x 8.25mm and a weight of approximately 225 grams.

In terms of camera upgrades, both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are anticipated to sport enhanced 48MP ultrawide cameras. The smaller iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to include a 5x tetraprism zoom lens.
The standout hardware change in the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro series is introducing the all-new Capture button. This button, exclusive to the Pro models, is rumored to incorporate a force sensor seamlessly integrated into the phone’s frame. Positioned flush with the phone’s frame for ease of use, the Capture button is a convenient shortcut for the camera app.
However, the addition of the Capture button necessitates some adjustments. One notable change involves the relocation of the US-exclusive mmWave antenna, which will be shifted to the left side of the device.
