In a significant departure, HMD Global announces plans to unveil a new line of devices without the iconic Nokia branding, signaling the potential conclusion of Nokia Mobile smartphones. The company offers a glimpse into its upcoming product portfolio, featuring smartphones, tablets, and wireless earbuds, with speculation of a grand reveal at the upcoming MWC Barcelona event from February 26-29.

HMD’s official website hints at the possibility of future Nokia-branded feature phones, emphasizing their commitment as the “Makers of Nokia phones.” The new phones are expected to prioritize resilience, enjoyment, security, speed, and budget-friendly options. Meanwhile, existing Nokia-branded smartphones and tablets are available at discounted prices while supplies last.

Cross-Licensing Agreement with Oppo Resolves Patent Dispute

Nokia recently concluded a prolonged patent infringement dispute with Oppo and OnePlus, leading to the Chinese brands’ exit from certain European markets, including Germany. The resolution involves a cross-licensing 5G patent agreement, enabling Oppo and OnePlus to re-enter previously restricted markets. As part of the settlement, Oppo will make royalty payments to Nokia, including catch-up payments covering periods of non-payment.
