According to data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the number of cellular subscribers in Pakistan witnessed a slight increase from 189.44 million at the end of December 2023 to 190.18 million by the end of January 2024.
During the same period, the count of 3G and 4G users in the country also experienced growth, rising from 127.68 million to 128.79 million.
The cellular teledensity, which measures the number of mobile cellular subscriptions per 100 inhabitants, saw a rise from 78.93 percent in December to 79.11 percent in January. Similarly, the total teledensity increased from 80 percent to 80.2 percent over the same period.
The penetration of Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) also saw an uptick, climbing from 53.2 percent in December to 53.57 percent in January.
In terms of specific service providers, Jazz witnessed a decline in its 3G user base, dropping from 3.492 million to 3.388 million, while its 4G users increased from 43.867 million to 44.292 million between December and January.

For Zong, the count of 3G subscribers decreased from 2.217 million to 2.162 million, whereas the number of 4G users rose from 34.202 million to 34.660 million over the same period.
Telenor experienced a decrease in its 3G subscribers, declining from 2.380 million to 2.280 million, while its 4G user base grew from 23.300 million to 23.560 million between December and January.
Ufone’s 3G user count remained relatively stable, standing at 2.190 million in January compared to 2.188 million in December. However, the number of 4G users increased from 14.484 million to 14.690 million during the same period.
