Peshawar Zalmi’s hopes for the upcoming playoff match against Multan Sultans have taken a hit as their key bowling asset, Naveen Ul Haq, will be unavailable due to his international duties with Afghanistan.
Ul Haq’s absence is due to Afghanistan’s scheduled three-match T20I series against Ireland in Sharjah, starting on March 15. Unfortunately for Zalmi, this coincides with the crucial Pakistan Super League Final slated for March 18.

Ul Haq showcased his prowess in the recent match against Karachi, underlining why he’s pivotal to Zalmi’s bowling unit. In that game, where Peshawar defended a modest total of 148, his contribution was instrumental in securing Zalmi’s position in the top two of the PSL standings.
Throughout the season, Ul Haq has been a standout performer for Zalmi, featuring in six matches and claiming nine wickets at an economy rate of 9.72. Only Luke Wood has managed to surpass his wicket tally this season, with 11 scalps to his name.
Zalmi’s bowling department has faced challenges this season, but Ul Haq’s inclusion added a significant edge to their attack. His partnership with Luke Wood proved vital in securing early breakthroughs in matches.
The absence of Ul Haq will be keenly felt as Zalmi faces Multan Sultans in the playoffs tomorrow at the National Bank Arena in Karachi. The winner of this match will secure a direct spot in the final.
