Legendary cricketer Waqar Younis praised Mohammad Amir’s outstanding bowling performance in the ongoing PSL 9 season, urging Shaheen to take notes from Amir’s opening overs with the new ball.
Amir’s remarkable spell for the Quetta Gladiators saw him finish with figures of 2-20, boasting an impressive economy rate of just 5.00 in his 4-over quota.
The iconic speedster advised Shaheen to replicate Amir’s consistent length on the surface, believing it could enhance his economy rate and contribute positively to Pakistan’s prospects in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

During commentary, Waqar Younis remarked, “I hope Shaheen is observing Mohammad Amir’s first over. Shaheen needs to emulate that length.”
Although Shaheen is renowned for his prowess with the new ball, his recent form, especially on the international stage, has been lackluster. Struggling to find the right line and length, he only managed to secure 8 wickets in 4 innings during the away Test series against Australia.
As captain of the Pakistan T20 team, Shaheen claimed 9 wickets in 5 matches against New Zealand during the away series in January, but his death bowling was disappointing.
Despite criticism, Shaheen has amassed 14 wickets in 9 innings this PSL season, albeit with a slightly elevated economy rate of 8.61, particularly under scrutiny for his death bowling.
