A recent report has surfaced, shedding light on the highly anticipated budget-friendly version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, suggesting it could come with a significantly lower price tag than previously expected. According to these reports, the affordable variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 might hit the market at a mere $800.

Today, a fresh rumor originating from Samsung’s home turf, Korea, offers some insights into the potential launch timeline of this device. Initially, it was speculated that the device would be unveiled alongside the Fold 6 and Flip 6 models at an event in Paris, possibly happening in early to mid-July. However, given Samsung’s tendency to launch its FE (Fan Edition) models – which are more affordable versions of its flagships – later than the original flagships, it seems the launch might align with the release of the iPhone 16, expected around September or October, rather than the previously speculated timeframe.

This strategic move appears to be aimed at diverting attention away from Apple’s announcements. However, it also poses a potential risk for Samsung, considering Apple’s tradition of launching mainstream ‘slab’ devices in September. Despite the Galaxy Z Fold 6 being priced lower than the anticipated iPhone 16 Pro, the foldable market remains relatively niche.

Even Samsung’s confidence in its upcoming foldable seems to be a bit shaky, at least according to rumored shipment targets. Reportedly, the Korean tech giant aims to ship 200,000 to 300,000 units initially. However, if the device does indeed come with an $800 price tag, these shipment numbers could potentially be much higher.

While the new launch timeframe for the cheaper Galaxy Z Fold 6 seems to be somewhat confirmed by the latest report, it’s advisable to take this information with a grain of salt, given the lack of corroborating evidence from other sources. More details are expected to emerge as the July Galaxy Unpacked event approaches.
