Samsung has officially launched its Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+, the latest additions to its flagship series. These devices bring refinements in software and AI features while maintaining incremental hardware upgrades. The Galaxy S25 Ultra will be covered in a separate announcement.

Design and Display: Subtle Enhancements in a Familiar Package

Samsung retains its signature design language, introducing Armor Aluminum frames made from recycled materials. Both models are available in elegant colors, including Icy Blue, Mint, Navy, and Silver Shadow, with exclusive shades like Blue Black, Coral Red, and Pink Gold available through Samsung’s website.

  • Galaxy S25: 6.2-inch 1080p+ LTPO OLED display
  • Galaxy S25+: 6.7-inch 1440p+ LTPO OLED screen

Both displays feature 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rates for smoother visuals and improved battery efficiency. These models are thinner (by 0.4mm) and lighter than their predecessors.

Internals and Software: Power and Longevity

The Galaxy S25 series is powered by Samsung’s custom Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, offering:

  • 37% faster CPU performance
  • 30% better GPU compute power
  • 40% faster NPU for AI processing

The series standardizes 12GB RAM across all models, phasing out the 8GB configuration. Storage options range from 128GB to 512GB.

Samsung’s One UI 7, built on Android 15, introduces:

  • Personal Data Engine for secure on-device AI processing
  • Now Bar, a context-aware lock screen tool
  • Gemini, an upgraded AI assistant seamlessly integrated with Spotify and Google

Samsung also commits to 7 years of software updates, offering unparalleled longevity in the Android ecosystem.

Camera: Software-Driven Enhancements

The camera hardware remains unchanged with a 50MP main sensor, 10MP 3x telephoto lens, and 12MP ultrawide lens. However, significant software improvements include:

  • ProVisual Engine for 10-bit HDR video recording
  • Galaxy Log for advanced video editing
  • Audio Eraser for isolating unwanted sounds
  • Expert RAW’s Virtual Aperture tool for adjustable depth of field
  • Enhanced Portrait Studio for lifelike facial expressions and subject isolation

Despite these enhancements, users seeking groundbreaking camera hardware upgrades may find the updates less impactful.

Battery and Charging: Familiar Territory

Battery capacities remain the same as the previous models:

  • Galaxy S25: 4,000mAh with 25W wired charging
  • Galaxy S25+: 4,900mAh with 45W wired charging

Both models support 15W Qi wireless charging, but Qi2 technology is absent. The lack of battery innovation may disappoint users expecting more competitive advancements.

Pricing and Availability

  • Galaxy S25: Starts at $799.99
  • Galaxy S25+: Starts at $999.99

Higher storage variants are available at an additional cost. While pricing in Pakistan is yet to be confirmed, the series has already been listed on Samsung Pakistan’s website.
