WhatsApp is rolling out two AI-driven features in its latest beta versions for Android users. The Meta-owned messaging platform is testing a new home screen widget, allowing users to access its Meta AI chatbot without launching the app. Additionally, select beta testers can now generate group icons using AI, enabling them to create and set group photos with text-based prompts. These innovations are expected to be available to all WhatsApp users on both iOS and Android in the near future.

AI-Generated Group Icons for Beta Testers

With the WhatsApp beta update for Android 2.25.6.10, some testers now have the ability to create group icons using Meta AI. Users can access this option by tapping the pencil icon on a group’s existing icon and selecting the newly added “Create AI Image” feature. Once activated, users can enter a prompt, and Meta AI will generate multiple image options, allowing them to swipe through and select the most suitable one.

Meta AI Widget for Quick Access

The latest beta version, WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.6.14, also introduces a home screen widget for instant access to Meta AI. This shortcut eliminates the need to open WhatsApp before interacting with the chatbot. A larger version of the widget, spotted in WABetaInfo’s screenshots, includes three buttons: “Ask Meta AI,” “Camera,” and “Voice.” However, Gadgets 360 reports that only a compact version showing the “Ask Meta AI” button is currently accessible.
