A New Era for Apple’s Software
Apple is reportedly working on a major redesign of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, introducing revamped interfaces for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This overhaul aims to enhance usability and provide a more modern experience, encouraging users to upgrade from older devices.
What to Expect from iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16
According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is developing a “dramatic software overhaul”, marking the biggest redesign in 12 years for iOS (since iOS 7) and five years for macOS (since macOS 11). The redesigned updates will feature:
- New icons and menus
- Updated system elements
- More cohesive cross-device experience
These updates are said to be inspired by visionOS, the operating system used in Apple’s wearable spatial computer.

visionOS-Inspired Design Changes
Earlier leaks suggested Apple was considering a redesigned UI for iOS 18, but no major interface changes were introduced. However, the upcoming iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16 updates could finally bring a fresh visual overhaul.
A leaked concept of a redesigned iOS camera app by Jon Prosser (FrontPageTech) hinted at UI elements similar to visionOS, including:
- Round app icons, replacing the traditional rounded square icons
- A modernized home screen layout
- Enhanced UI for system apps
Final Thoughts
While Apple has not officially confirmed these redesigns, reports suggest that iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16 will introduce the most significant software updates in years, aligning Apple’s software ecosystem closer to visionOS.
