Punjab May Announce Early Summer Vacations as Heatwave Intensifies
As scorching temperatures grip Punjab, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a strong advisory to the School Education and Higher Education Departments, urging immediate measures to protect students and staff from the intensifying heatwave.
The advisory, also sent to all commissioners and deputy commissioners, stresses proactive planning. Key recommendations include revising school and college timings to avoid peak heat hours and potentially announcing summer vacations earlier than scheduled if temperatures continue to rise.

Educational institutions have been instructed to maintain a steady supply of clean and cool drinking water, while students should be encouraged to wear light and airy clothing. The advisory highlights serious health concerns, especially for children in overcrowded or poorly ventilated classrooms.
With the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicting above-normal temperatures in the coming weeks, the PDMA has called on school administrations to act swiftly to reduce risks and ensure student safety during the extreme weather conditions.
