New arrest warrants have been issued for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan Gandapur and former Federal Minister Hammad Azhar in connection with a police assault case tied to the October 5th protests organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Authorities moved to issue the warrants after both leaders failed to respond to multiple summons and did not appear before law enforcement to face charges related to the alleged assault on police personnel during the demonstrations.

In addition to Gandapur and Azhar, arrest warrants have also been issued for PTI leaders Shehbaz Ahmad and Saeed Sindhu, who are also named in First Information Reports (FIRs) filed following the incident. The FIRs cite their alleged roles in inciting violence and attacking police officers.
Police officials have stated that legal action will be pursued aggressively, emphasizing that anyone found responsible for the unrest and attacks on law enforcement will be brought to justice. The move marks another escalation in the legal challenges facing senior PTI figures amid continuing political instability.
Efforts to locate and detain the accused are currently underway, with law enforcement agencies monitoring their movements closely.
