Pakistan Security Council Authorizes Army Action Against India

Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) has formally authorized the armed forces to take retaliatory action in response to recent Indian airstrikes, calling them a “blatant violation” of national sovereignty and responsible for civilian deaths.

Following an emergency meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the NSC issued a strong statement invoking Article 51 of the UN Charter, affirming Pakistan’s right to self-defense.

“Pakistan reserves the right to respond, in self-defense, at a time, place, and manner of its choosing to avenge the loss of innocent lives,” the statement read.

The NSC reviewed the rapidly escalating situation along the border and greenlit “corresponding actions” by Pakistan’s military, heightening the threat of further confrontation between the two nuclear-armed nations. India had earlier claimed its strikes targeted “terrorist infrastructure” inside Pakistani territory.
