X (formerly Twitter) is now fully accessible in Pakistan after a year-long ban, with users able to access the platform on both mobile and web without the need for VPNs.
The restoration was confirmed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) after reports of access began surfacing shortly after midnight. The platform’s return coincides with rising tensions between Pakistan and India following deadly missile strikes in Bahawalpur and Muzaffarabad, which resulted in 26 deaths and 46 injuries, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The attacks reportedly targeted civilian neighborhoods and religious sites, prompting a strong response from Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC), which authorized the armed forces to retaliate.
In a statement invoking Article 51 of the UN Charter, the government reaffirmed its right to self-defense and promised a response “at a time, place, and manner of its choosing.”
