Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has dismissed a viral notification on social media claiming an extension of school holidays in the province, calling it fake and misleading, according to Express News.
In an official statement on Wednesday, Bokhari clarified that no such decision had been made and urged the public to ignore the false document. “The notification circulating about an extension in school holidays is fake. No such decision has been taken at this time,” she said. She emphasized that any future decisions would be based on the evolving security situation and made in consultation with concerned authorities.

The clarification came after confusion spread online following Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s declaration of a state of emergency on Wednesday. She had ordered the closure of all educational institutions for the day amid heightened security concerns after Indian missile, drone, and airstrikes hit several locations across Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on the night of May 6–7.
The attacks resulted in the deaths of multiple civilians, including women and children, and caused damage to infrastructure such as mosques and a hydropower facility.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether schools will remain closed beyond Wednesday, with further decisions pending ongoing security assessments.
