At Least 49 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza Shelter and Home
At least 49 Palestinians lost their lives in two Israeli airstrikes that struck a school sheltering displaced people and a residential building in Gaza City and Jabalia, northern Gaza, on Monday morning.
According to a medical source cited by Anadolu Agency, 30 people were killed in the airstrike on Fahmi Al-Jirjawi school in Gaza City’s al-Daraj neighborhood, where many displaced families had sought refuge. Following the bombing, a fire engulfed the tents, as reported by Al-Aqsa TV and local sources.
Videos shared online showed charred bodies, many of them children, along with desperate cries from those trapped in the flames. One report described the scene as “charred corpses and the screams of displaced people engulfed in flames.”
The Israeli military confirmed the strike on the school, claiming that Hamas had transformed the shelter into a “command and control center,” though no evidence was provided to substantiate this allegation.
In a separate strike, 19 people were killed and several others injured when an Israeli air raid destroyed a multi-story building in Jabalia town, northern Gaza. Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that dozens of displaced individuals were residing inside the building at the time.
This surge in violence follows nearly three months of a blockade on humanitarian supplies to Gaza and has drawn widespread international condemnation of Israel.
