A section of the passenger bridge at Khanewal Railway Station collapsed, resulting in the death of a railway employee and injuries to a woman.

According to a railway spokesperson, the rescue operation has been completed, and reconstruction efforts are set to begin today. Despite the incident, railway traffic continues to operate normally.

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has taken swift notice of the incident and suspended three officials for alleged negligence. Those suspended include Grade-18 Divisional Engineer Abid Razaq, Grade-17 Assistant Engineer Raja Yousaf, and Grade-16 Bridge Inspector Muhammad Adil.

Expressing sorrow over the incident, Minister Abbasi announced the formation of an inquiry committee comprising the CEO of Railways, IG Railways, and DS Lahore to investigate the collapse and ensure accountability.
