Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt has received a legal reprieve after a sessions court granted him interim bail in a high-profile case alleging he hurt religious sentiments by showing disrespect toward Namaz (Islamic prayer) in a viral video.
The case was initiated in January when a complaint was filed under Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with deliberate acts intended to outrage religious feelings, after a video surfaced showing him performing prayer with music playing in the background, an act that sparked significant public outrage.
Rajab Butt appeared before the Additional District and Sessions Judge (Central) to request pre-arrest bail. The court granted him interim relief on the condition of a surety bond of Rs100,000, and adjourned further proceedings, with the next hearing scheduled for December 29 to decide on confirmation of bail.

In his defence, his lawyer argued that individual complainants cannot initiate cases on sensitive religious issues and that matters under Section 295-A typically fall under the jurisdiction of higher authorities, as outlined in legal procedure.
This development comes amid a series of legal challenges Rajab Butt has faced related to his online content and public actions, highlighting broader debates over content creation, freedom of expression, and religious sensitivities in Pakistan.
