Leading Pakistani news channel Geo News experienced a serious broadcast disruption after its satellite signal was reportedly accessed by unknown individuals. Hackers reportedly infiltrated the channel’s satellite frequency, forcing Geo News to suspend its regular transmission in affected areas on the evening of March 1, 2026.
During the breach, unusual and unauthorized content briefly appeared in place of normal programming, including messages aimed at state institutions. This raised immediate concerns about the security and resilience of satellite broadcast systems and media infrastructure.
Geo News technical teams worked quickly to remove the unauthorized material and restore normal service, while investigations are underway to determine how the breach occurred and what vulnerabilities were exploited. Media analysts described such incidents as rare but potentially damaging to public communication and news dissemination.
