Korean tech giant Samsung has been caught red handed as the brand has been caught in putting performance limits on more than 10,000 apps, a list which then includes systems apps, Google apps, and also a large number of third party apps as well. Samsung has said that this all is to ensure the safety of consumers.

The said limits are actually imposed via the aid of Game Optimizing Service (GOS) which is actually supposed to prevent both overheating as well as throttling issues and it does so by optimizing system performance. However, as per what a user from Twitter has gone on to discover, the scope of the service actually proceeds to extend far beyond games and ends up meddling with apps too.

Indeed GOS has been pointed to have been imposing performance limits even when the temperature of a device is within a reasonable range. And if this isn’t enough, the service actually goes out on benchmarking apps such as Geekbench, and omits them from the throttle list. This then indicates and points towards a clear indication on trickery, as such apps wouldn’t in fact be the representative of the actual experience at hand.

All in all though, so as long as the GOS goes on to continue its imposition in its current form, users will not be on the receiving end of the performance that they paid for. If you are one of those customers who own a brand new Galaxy S22 model that features with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1/Exynos 2200 under the hood, you may not be getting the maximum output that you potentially can.

Regardless though, it has also been said that Samsung is indeed in the process of investigating the GPS issue and is also approaching it as seriously as the debacle that was evident with respect to the Galaxy Note 7 series.
