Xiaomi 15 and OnePlus 13: Upgraded Fingerprint Sensors on the Horizon
For the past few years, Xiaomi’s top-tier smartphones have been equipped with in-display fingerprint sensors, primarily of the optical type. A similar trend has been noticed with OnePlus devices. However, there are indications of a potential shift next year with the Xiaomi 15 series and OnePlus 13. Reports from two separate sources on Weibo, often considered China’s equivalent of Twitter, suggest that Xiaomi is currently exploring the incorporation of ultrasonic fingerprint sensors in its upcoming Xiaomi 15 flagship lineup, which is currently in development.
Along with an upgraded fingerprint sensor, the Xiaomi 15 is expected to feature a flat screen similar to its predecessor. Meanwhile, the 15 Ultra will continue the trend of its predecessor with a curved screen. As mentioned earlier, OnePlus will also transition to ultrasonic fingerprint sensors starting with the OnePlus 13. This move will align OnePlus with Samsung and Vivo flagships that utilize these fingerprint sensors known for their speed and accuracy.
