All Meta-owned social media platforms, including  WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, experienced a widespread outage that lasted for over an hour on Tuesday. A spokesperson for the tech giant confirmed the restoration of these services and issued an apology for the inconvenience caused to users.

The spokesperson stated, “Earlier today, a technical issue resulted in difficulty accessing some of our services. We worked swiftly to resolve the problem for all affected users, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

During the outage, hundreds of thousands of users worldwide reported being unable to access or experiencing suspension on Meta-owned social media platforms. The disruptions began around 8 pm (PST), with many users expressing their frustrations on rival social media platforms such as X, stating they were logged out of Facebook and Instagram and unable to log back in.

Downdetector.com recorded more than 300,000 reports of outages for Facebook and 40,000 reports for Instagram, indicating the scale of the disruption experienced by users globally.
