In a recent development, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a groundbreaking platform called the “Work Bundle” to simplify and expedite the process of obtaining work permits and residency visas.

This platform, unveiled this week, promises to drastically reduce processing times from an average of one month to just five days. Alongside slashing processing times, officials have declared a significant reduction in the required documentation from 16 essentials to just five. Additionally, the number of visits to service centers will be substantially minimized from seven to only two.

The Work Bundle consolidates services from various government entities, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, Dubai Health Authority, Department of Economy and Tourism, and General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

Initially launched for companies operating in Dubai through the “Invest in Dubai” platform, the Work Bundle aims to gradually extend its accessibility to cover other emirates in the near future.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, anticipates that the implementation of the Work Bundle will save an estimated 65 million working hours, streamline 25 million government procedures, and cut down 12 million visits to government offices each year.

The Work Bundle initiative aligns with a recent directive from the UAE government to federal ministries and entities to reduce the number of procedures by at least 2,000 and halve processing times within a year.
