Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has reportedly been tempted by a $2 million offer from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), with the condition that he would only be available for white-ball cricket, as per various reports.
Previously, the PCB had extended an offer to Watson, proposing a substantial monthly salary of 4.6 crores, which would make him the highest-paid head coach in Pakistan’s history. This offer has caught the attention of the Aussie World Cup winner.
Wahab Riaz and CEO Salman Naseer are currently leading the negotiations with Shane Watson, indicating the serious interest of the Australian head coach in this project and his desire to strike a deal with the PCB with some additional compensation.

While awaiting a formal written offer from the PCB, the Australian head coach is expected to sign and take on responsibilities as the Pakistan coach for the upcoming New Zealand series.
Sources reveal that Watson has certain demands, including his inability to commit to staying in Pakistan throughout the year to oversee domestic cricket. However, he is willing to supervise the team during national team camps and accompany them during home and away series.
Currently serving as the head coach of Quetta Gladiators, Watson has contributed to their qualification for the playoffs for the first time in four years.
Pakistan is scheduled to host New Zealand for 5 T20I matches at home and then travel to England for 3 T20I matches against Ireland and four matches against England.
If Watson accepts the coaching position, his input will likely be crucial in determining Pakistan’s captaincy for the T20 World Cup in June, whether it will be Shaheen or Rizwan to lead the men in green.
