Chinese brands often skip the number “4” in their product lines due to cultural superstitions associating it with bad luck. Following this tradition, OnePlus is set to bypass the “Ace 4” branding for its next series, revealing the OnePlus Ace 5 lineup.

Recent information from tipster Digital Chat Station suggests that both the OnePlus Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro are expected to launch in China sooner than anticipated. For context, the OnePlus Ace 3, which featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, was introduced in early 2023, followed by the Ace 3V with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 in March, and the Ace 3 Pro equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in June.

According to the leak, OnePlus might unveil the Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro by the end of this year. The new series is likely to follow a similar strategy to the Ace 3 series, incorporating a high-end chipset paired with a large battery and a significantly updated design.

Currently, there is no information on the OnePlus Ace 5V, which is expected to be the most budget-friendly option in the Ace 5 lineup. Notably, a modified version of the Ace 3V was released as the OnePlus Nord 4 in India and Europe, so it’s possible that the Ace 5V could be rebranded as the Nord 5 in other regions.

Additionally, the OnePlus Ace 3 was rebranded as the OnePlus 12R internationally. Thus, it’s likely that the Ace 5 could be rebranded as the OnePlus 13R outside of China. The OnePlus 13, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, is anticipated to launch in China around October or November. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13 and 13R are expected to make their global debut in January 2025.
