President Asif Ali Zardari has approved a significant salary increase for federal ministers and ministers of state, raising their monthly pay to Rs. 519,000. This adjustment brings their salaries in line with those of Members of the National Assembly (MNAs), who recently received the same raise through a decision by the NA Finance Committee.
Previously, federal ministers earned Rs. 200,000, while ministers of state received Rs. 180,000. The latest hike follows a major expansion of the federal cabinet on February 27, which now includes 30 federal ministers, nine ministers of state, and four advisers.

In addition to the salary increase, President Zardari also issued an ordinance to establish the National Agri-trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA), a body responsible for ensuring compliance with sanitary and phytosanitary standards in agricultural trade.
Another ordinance passed was the Tax Laws (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, aimed at speeding up the recovery of outstanding tax amounts currently tied up in litigation.
